We currently have an Internship opportunity in our Claremont, NH power plant. Our Plant Internship program is designed to provide a broad exposure to power plant operations, while providing Power Engineering Technology and Facilities Engineering majors the opportunity to apply theories and practices learned to a real world setting.
Summary:
- Monitoring and operating plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient and continuous plant operations
- Making rounds to check conditions of plant equipment and recording operational data on log sheets
- Operating Ash Handling System safely and efficiently
- Testing and treating boiler, cooling and other plant water systems
- Lifting moderate to heavy material
- Operating all aspects of the demineralization system, including making required adjustments to system safely and accurately
- Assisting coordination of plant health, safety and environmental compliance programs, issues and results
- Installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner
- Assisting in electrical, calibration, and maintenance and repair procedures
- Learning how Wheelabrator Technologies Waste-to-Energy Power Plants are operated, managed and budgeted
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Enrolled in a BS engineering program (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Environmental, or Facilities) or similar academic program. Maritime students highly encouraged to apply.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0. Other GPA requirements may apply depending upon school policy.
- Previous experience in power generation facilities desired.
- Must be 18 years or older.
