District Fleet Manager
Long Description:
Manages the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment, and continually focuses on achieving market base profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, management development, and high training and safety standards.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
* Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements. Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
* Manages maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.
* Reviews capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.
* Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
* Ensures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
* Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
* Complies with and ensures adherence to Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
* Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
* Assists in budget process as required.
* Assists in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
* Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
* Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training staff and maintenance managers, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
* Motivates, coaches, counsels and disciplines managers according to Waste Management's policies and procedures and ensures that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
* Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications
V. Qualification:
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Required: Associate's Degree or 2 years experience in maintenance operations in which coaching and leading employees were requirements of the role. Seven years previous related experience. One or more years management/supervisory experience. Four or more years diesel maintenance experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree. Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry. Experience as a diesel mechanic

* Ability to communicate with employees, peers, and managers, and to give/receive constructive feedback; proven coaching/mentoring skills; ability to train employees.
* Good Computer skills
* Working knowledge of diesel maintenance
* Availability to work weekends or holidays as needed
