Long Description:
Kellogg Company has a position available for a SENIOR FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM MANAGER located in Battle Creek, MI. The Senior Food Safety Program manager manages food safety programs and projects to proactively prevent food safety issues and serve as resource in crisis management situations.

1. Conducts hazard assessment and directs mitigation steps for new or existing ingredients, products, processes, or equipment.
2. Conducts review and assessment of equipment design for clean ability and plant cleaning and sanitation practices.
3. Directs liaison with Quality, Auditing, Communications, Research, Consumer Affairs, Marketing, Plants, and Legal on the food safety implications of new product formulations or ingredient changes.
4. Directs review of new product formulas for allergy issues, microbiological safety, Kellogg practices and regulatory compliance.
5. Provides information, risk assessment, and recommendations for courses of action to Crisis Management Team on issues involving food safety. Uses judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive information to minimize Company exposure to and liability for food safety related incidences.
6. Initiates and maintains surveillance of external sources on global issues relating to the safety and regulatory compliance of ingredients and potential contaminants. Assesses risks and, using technical knowledge of Kellogg business, notifies appropriate senior management and technical personnel of potential issues prior to their occurrence.
7. Manages the design, execution, and follow-up of quality and food safety programs including HACCP, allergens, microbiological issues, foreign material and any other food safety issues that could pose a risk to human health.
8. Identifies opportunities to improve product safety by developing programs/systems and engaging stakeholders across organization to implement systems.
9. Develops food safety policies and standards.
10. Able to evaluate and create recommendations on emerging issues in food safety. These may include chemical, microbiological, regulatory or other similar issue.

Position Requirements Position requires a Ph.D. in Microbiology / Food Toxicology / Chemistry or related area and at least eight years industrial experience, or M.S. and twelve years, or B.S. and fifteen years equivalent experience.
