ASSOCIATE PRODUCT AND CONSUMER SCIENTIST (SENSORY)
Long Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Product and Consumer Scientist at our Headquarters located in Battle Creek, MI. This position requires the ability to function independently and effectively as a project team member and as a technical resource.
Additional responsibilities include:
1.Works as a Business Partner, providing cross-functional support to project teams by designing, executing, analyzing, and reporting results of all test types (descriptive analysis, shelf-life testing, discrimination testing, and consumer research ). Recommends appropriate project next steps based on results.
2. provides sensory and shelf life program support in order to maintain department functions:
documents protocols and procedures
writes and issues reports
may manage aspects of a trained panel or functional program
prioritizes requests
3. works on development and implementation of new testing methodologies and/or opportunities for research on research with senior staff
4. applies general knowledge of statistics as it applies to test design and data analysis.
5. applies general knowledge of food chemistry, packaging, and product development as it applies to sensory and shelf life testing.
6. interacts with staff for cross-functional shared learning.
7. able to recognize substantial barriers and flag issues to their manager and project team for resolution.

Position Requirements B.S. in Food Science or related field with at least 3 years experience OR M.S. in Sensory or related field with a minimum of 1 year industry experience in Sensory OR PhD in Sensory or related field.
This job requires active support of sensory and shelf life testing, including serving tests, lifting product, long periods of standing. Extended work hours and/or travel may be necessary to complete the requirements of the job.
