Facilities EHS Coordinator
Long Description:
Position Summary: Overall responsibility for the efficient operation, maintenance, and coordination of all services, processes, facilities, systems and contracts involved with the site. Additionally performs and/or coordinates all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) facility functions.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Regular contact with all levels of management and facility service providers. Works with all departments to resolve facilities and EHS issues.
Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate all contract negotiations with facility vendors and service providers.
2. Assess, schedule and facilitate the maintenance and repair of key process and facilities equipment.
3. Responsible for the coordination and installation of new key processes or facilities equipment.
4. Instruct and lead maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties.
5. Lead maintenance personnel in major projects, inspect and evaluate work progress through completion.
6. Determine material, equipment, supplies and personnel needed to complete repairs and projects in the most efficient manner.
7. Responsible for EHS compliance at the site including reporting, record keeping, training, measurement, monitoring and control. Areas of responsibility may include (1) waste management, (2) air emission permits (3) water discharge permits (4) pollution control systems (5) recycling (6) chemical management (7) safety programs (8) emergency response and evacuation (9) accident reporting and response and (10) other applicable EHS programs.
8. Support and manage corrective actions from EHS audits.
9. Report and interface with facility management on EHS performance and goals.
10. Respond to emergency maintenance issues as required after hours and/or weekends.
Job Requirements :
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma
2. Minimum five years experience performing skilled work in one or more of the facility trades with strong background in hands on facilities maintenance and repair
3. Strong background in environmental and OSHA requirements with focus on hazardous waste management and controls
4. Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
6. Excellent analytical and organizational skills
7. Understanding of computer systems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, heating and air conditioners, plumbing, welding, carpentry, electrical/electronic equipment, pneumatic, hydraulics, and heavy manufacturing equipment.
2. Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement methods and techniques.
3. Ability to help maintain a preventative maintenance plan.
4. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
5. Ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity, with the ability to effectively troubleshoot.
6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies and recommend changes to procedures.
7. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels of the organization.
8. Prior knowledge/ training on DOT, RCRA, and Hazardous Material Handling.
Typical Mental and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and member of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
