Business Intelligence Engineer I
Long Description:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer I provides data integration, reporting, and decision support functions. This position triages, assesses, and identifies information and reporting and ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) requirements. The BI Engineer develops, maintains, and documents automated applications and reports to produce accurate, relevant, and timely information for internal and external customer end-users. The complexity, risk, size, and visibility of assignments will increase, commensurate with experience and acquired skills.
This position will be located in Nashville, TN and will report to the Manager of Data Services, Background Screening.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provide technical expertise to internal business customers for identifying data needs and delivery mechanisms.
· Analyze and evaluate reporting and information requirements for various end-users.
· Work with IS Business Analysts and / or IS Project Managers for requirements and design specifications to create a highly usable BI interface and automated reporting tools.
· Work with DBAs to create data access components to be used in BI solutions.
· Develop, test, and maintain automated BI applications and reporting solutions to be used by internal and external customers.
· Develop and adhere to Kroll design and data access standards for BI solutions.
· Adhere to industry standard best practices for development and assist in the creation of BI standards and processes.
· Create and maintain detailed documentation for the data warehouse and BI solutions.
· Develop a structured approach for transitioning manual reports and applications to the BI environment.
· Support daily operations including job monitoring and troubleshooting the BI data warehouse, automated tools, and reports.
· Perform other duties as assigned or required. Occasional night and weekend work is required.
Qualifications
CANDIDATE EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 2 years experience in Business Intelligence role.
· Education - College degree in computer science or related field. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
· Must possess the following Technical knowledge, skills and abilities
· Multi-tier distributed architecture
· Web concepts and best practices
· Standard software development tools (e.g. software development languages and IDE's, as well as testing, revision control, and project management tools)
· Commercially-available business intelligence technologies, such as BusinessObjects, Cognos, Informatica, and Crystal Reports
· Standard software development tools (e.g. software development languages and IDE's, as well as testing, revision control, and project management tools)
· Real-time and bulk database loading technologies
· Querying Oracle or SQL Server databases
· Relational and dimensional database design
· HTML, XML
· Coding, unit testing, and code review phases of project life cycle
· Basic Windows administration and architecture
· IIS or Apache, and general web-based architecture
· Application architecture best practices

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Sitting for long periods of time in close proximity to a computer screen.
* Lifting may be required up to approximately 30 pounds.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
