Terminal Operator Trainee
Long Description:
Responsible for taking product changes and all valve alignments (manifolds and tanks) inside the terminal property to assure the proper handling, storage and integrity of products received and pumped by pipeline and truck transport. Operates pipeline and terminal pumping equipment when required. Ship and receive pipeline cleaning pigs when required. Bleeds or flushes lines that contain both refined product and propane. Prepares daily inventory reports, terminal balance report and rack activity report using the Terminal Automation System. Forwards daily inventory and accounting reports to the appropriate persons. Makes sure that the customers receive information needed regarding their throughput and inventory. Samples and analyzes products and maintains a high standard of quality control on all products received, stored and shipped. Keeps loading rack equipment (mechanical and electrical) clean and in good working order at all times. Interacts with drivers to make sure they follow all company and safety regulations. Trains new drivers and makes sure they are familiar with our automation, loading equipment and emergency features. Conducts safety watches with outside contractors as advised by the management. Ensures all environmental and safety equipment is working properly. Keeps overall appearance of terminal at its best.
Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one year experience in terminal operations preferred. DOT Operator Qualification required. Must be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts (days, evenings, nights, and holidays). The North Platte Terminal is manned 24/7 including all Weekends and Holidays. Electrical/electronic background preferred. Safety training and hazard training preferred. Spill response training for pipeline preferred. Fire training preferred. Basic knowledge in propane handling preferred. Ability to lift and / or move up to 100 pounds and the ability to climb up to 40-foot tall tanks is required. Initiative and organization abilities for meeting deadlines and establishing priorities required. Expected to maintain good working relationships with all Company personnel, customers and contract personnel. Must be able to work independently. This person will be the only person at the site much of the time, therefore must be a self-starter and willing to adapt to changing conditions. Some travel may be required. A good driving record and a valid driver's license are required. Must be available to answer and respond to after hour calls required in the event of an emergency or as requested by management. As a part of this position when you are not covering as vacation relief you will be required to travel the NuStar Pipeline ROW to locate the pipe line, assist contractors with foreign line crossings, read Cathodic Rectifiers, monitor and change filters at Union Pacific Bailey Yards and do scheduled Station Checks at pump stations
