Description
Performs a variety of routine and complex Ultrasound examinations. Examinations performed include but are not limited to OB/GYN, Gallbladder, Abdominal, Vascular studies, Baby hips and small parts, intracranial studies. Required to perform prostate and cervical seed implantation in conjunction with Radiation Oncology. Additional scans will be required as requested by the Radiologists or attending physician.
Responsible for knowing sufficient anatomy and physiology to determine whether or not the structure required is visualized and whether or not the study is of diagnostic quality. Responsible for determining what additional examinations or scans might be necessary and required by the Radiologist to fully evaluate the patient's illness or injury. Responsible for operating the Ultrasound unit in such a manner as to obtain optimum visualization of the organs requested.
Prepares exam room and equipment providing a clean comfortable and safe environment for patients and employees. Obtains requisition and authenticated physician order for exams. Explains procedures to patients, assists with patient dressing and positioning on the exam table. Responsible for providing the correct exam requisition and entering exam-related charges in compliance with facility billing policies. Obtains authenticated physician order for exams and assures necessary follow-up.
Qualifications
ARDMS REGISTERED, AT LEAST 2 YEARS (POST GRADUATE) EXPERIENCE AS AN ULTRASONOGRAPHER IN PHYSICIAN OFFICE OR HOSPITAL SETTING. RVT EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.
Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers or Ultrasonographers.
· Current Certification in Basic Life Support.
· Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
· Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
· Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
Special skills/experience desired: ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY, WORK WELL WITH OTHERS, HANDLE HIGH VOLUMES, and EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PATIENT CARE SKILLS
