Description


Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of blood vessels to aid physician in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Assists physicians in sterile environment; must be adept at sterile technique; will be performing exams other than angiography to include venography, angioplasty, stent, PICC placements, tube placements, vertebroplasty, and discography, and more. Positions patient in examining position, using immobilization devices such as head and neck braces. Operates fluoroscope to aid physician to view and guide wire or catheter through blood vessel to area of interest. The Special Procedures (Interventional) Technologist in this department provides care for child patients between 9 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Graduate of an accredited AMA program with a certificate or degree in Radiology Technology
Has had additional training in Special Procedures. Should adhere to ARRT guidelines of obtaining 24
Continuing education credits annually.
Licensure/
Certifications: Must be registered with ARRT or eligible for registry within 1 year of employment

Experience: Two years of experience with specials preferred
