Job Description

The Relationship Manager/Writer is an onsite role in a high-profile client location. This positions reports into the client’s Marketing department and is responsible for partnering with the client Financial Advisors (FA) to intake, conceive, develop and produce effective marketing communications for FA’s to market to their clients. He/she must have deep knowledge of the retail brokerage industry and have the skill-set to guide and develop strategy/write content for brochures, sales collateral, launches, advertising campaigns, and general marketing materials. Responsibilities include guiding FAs on the development of brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, posters, websites, and general marketing materials as needed – and writing content in these formats. The position requires strong people-skills, as it involves working closely with FAs, Marketing, Creative Services, and product teams to develop the strategic direction of all communications – maintaining a consistent, compelling message and tone within the client’s brand. Client service and relationship management are key components to this job.

Responsibilities:
Work is typically performed under no supervision, with only guidance about overall goals and objectives. Usually receive minimal to no guidance about how to complete work objectives. Must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long term goals of the department. Able to independently evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, and incorporate in to overall work objectives.

1. Working in close partnership with the FAs, Marketing Relationship/Brand Managers, and Creative Services, this position will lead efforts to develop:
1. strategic direction
2. messaging
3. marketing materials
2. Must be clear, persuasive, and original copy
3. Works in a close creative partnership with the Relationship/Brand Managers and Creative Services to generate workable concepts and ideas
4. Is familiar/has background in financial products and services (i.e., retail brokerage)
5. Amends, revises or redevelops new and existing marketing materials
6. Ensures there is a consistent FA tone and message
7. Wordsmiths, rewrites and updates existing copy to maintain a consistent tone and message
8. Works on several projects at once, under tight deadlines
9. Proofreads own and existing copy to check spelling and grammar
10. Maintains vast knowledge of client’s business, competition and latest industry news and trends
11. Masters and maintains brand standards, editorial direction and strategy

1) Bachelor degree in discipline related field (journalism, marketing, advertising or related fields) with 7+ years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

2) Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. 3) Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments. Able to mentor junior level team members in the use of tools and/or systems in the position.

4) Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others.

5) Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted.

6) Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.

7) Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.

8) Deep knowledge of the retail brokerage industry

10) Superb grammar and mastery of the English language

11) Ability to write succinct, persuasive, effective copy.
