Description
We currently have an opportunity for a Technology Development Representative with expertise in applied field research, and agronomic sciences to provide technical leadership and conduct field research within their assigned geography. This position will be located in Monroe, LA, Vicksburg, MS or Jackson, MS. Responsibilities include understanding local and regional markets and cropping systems, the development, deployment and technical positioning of new and pipeline products including value determination and demonstration, expansion of existing products, the development of technical solutions to local issues and the technical training and education of the internal sales organization and external partners. Must have strong communication and people skills to enable cross-functional interactions with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, R&D Technology, Breeding and Chemistry organizations and external groups such as Academia, Crop Consultants, Growers, Retail and Industry organizations.
Responsibilities:
* Plans and executes a field testing program that supports corn, soybean, and cotton germplasm, trait and chemistry evaluations across all business units.
* Evaluates, develops and deploys new cotton, corn and soybean germplasm, trait and chemistry products into the market. Crop, trait and germplasm focus will vary by geography.
* Determines and demonstrates the value, positioning and agronomic fit of near term germplasm, trait and chemistry products.
* Evaluates and assesses the value and technical fit of longer term novel pipeline technologies (WUE, Yield, etc.) in multiple crop platforms.
* Identifies and assesses new technology based business opportunities.
* Ensures proper stewardship of our new and existing products including regulatory compliance and the management of weed and insect resistance.
* Regularly integrates emerging technology tools to improve work efficiency and executes assigned responsibilities.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes diverse academia, crop consultant, seed partner, governmental, commodity and grower groups.
* Provides technical leadership and insights to the Technology Development, sales (agronomists), marketing, product management, and technology, breeding, and chemistry organizations.
* Provide technical and new product training to sales organizations as needed across all business units (DK/AG, Channel Bio, Regional/Local, Fielder's Choice).
* Assists the sales organization with performance inquiries requiring advanced agronomic and product knowledge.
Qualifications
* MS Degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in agronomy, plant breeding, plant physiology or related disciplines. PhD preferred.
* Must have strong field agronomic background and experience conducting field agronomic research with experience with cotton, corn and soybean production.
* The candidate should be self-motivated, team oriented, and possess good communication and organizational skills.
* Working knowledge of crop protection chemistry is a plus.
* Successfully work in a fast-paced changing environment
* Desire for long term career advancement (i.e. Research, Marketing or other areas)
* Good computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office/Outlook).
* Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment
* Ability to lift 60 pounds if necessary (a bag of seed)
* Ability to pass a driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.).
* Federal regulations from the Department of Transportation cover this position and mandate the passing of certain pre-employment requirements, such as a background check, drug test and physical.
