Description
Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated Field Research Assistant with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary Research Team. The Field Research Assistant will assist in all phases of a comprehensive breeding and testing program.
The successful Field Research Assistant has the opportunity to manage all operations related to field trials, seed preparation, seeding, field plot management, data collection, harvesting and trial plots. Responsibilities:
* Prepare seed for planting, crossing, and harvesting of breeding nurseries and yield trial plots.
* Assist with all seed handling and field operations.
* Maintain research and farm equipment maintenance functions and inventory.
* Follow company ISO9001:2000 and Environmental Safety Health policies.
* Use chemical and mechanical methods to maintain research plots and overall station appearance.
* Collect accurate data in timely manner from yield and nursery plots.
* Work closely with other research sites in the coordination of research and seed exchange activities.
* Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and motivating seasonal labor.
* Assist in managing and maintaining seed and supply inventories.
* Follow all company intellectual property protocols.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
* B.S. degree in Agronomy or related Ag field or Associates Degree with minimum 2 years of experience.
* Good understanding and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
* Emphasis on quality work and attention to detail.
* Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices as well as equipment operation and maintenance.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer skills related to data acquisition, analysis and record keeping.
* Demonstrated decision making ability and problem solving skills.
* Ability to prioritize work load, especially during peak seasons.
* Demonstrated ability to manage work projects to completion.
* Possess or capable of obtaining a Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License.
