Description
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, set strategic direction and facilitates safe and efficient operations of ag chemical manufacturing areas. The manufacturing facilities produce active ingredients and/or formulate Monsanto's branded and non branded herbicides for our agricultural customers
Scope/Specific Responsibilities of the Position:
· Optimizes people performance and development through mentoring, coaching, training, recognition, creation of progression plans, appraisals/reviews, discipline, documentation, follow up, and providing developmental opportunities
· Sets strategic direction and priorities for staffing and production capabilities of assigned production area.
· Identifies and drives infrastructure and capital projects to ensure longevity of the unit
· Develops, forecasts, and manages the area annual budget
· Drives continuous improvement initiatives, identifies key cost leverages, and assigns resources to minimize costs
· Ensures adherence to all policies related to manufacturing area, the plant, and Monsanto
· Communicates key area information to the Manufacturing Business Unit Leader
· Participates in committees and allocates resources to support plant-wide initiatives
· Ensures area compliance with ESH, OSHA, PSM, environmental/ personal safety standards and the completion of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)
· Facilitates communication by interfacing between management and personnel
Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelors degree, Engineering or Agriculture related field preferred
Experience
Required: Three to five years manufacturing/engineering
Ideal: At least five years manufacturing/engineering
One to three years people leadership
Skills/Competencies
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs. This position requires strong skills in oral/written communication, time, task, and project management, priority setting, decision making, resource allocation, budgeting and cost management, and people leadership including coaching, influencing, conflict resolution, team/individual goal setting, and effective performance management.
The ideal candidate will also possess familiarity with SAP or a similar system, some understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, the ability to read and understand engineering flow diagrams, and an understanding of chemical processes in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Specific Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Manufacturing office environment combined with some plant process management activities including working around agricultural chemicals and equipment.
This position requires the ability to use a computer/keyboard for extended periods of time and the ability to work a full eight hour day within the flexible schedule of 6:00am to 5:30 pm. Limited travel and after-hours support of critical needs is expected.
