Description
The Mystic Plant Growth Resource Management team has an immediate opening for a Research Associate position. The focus of this team is production of plant and seed material in support of Monsanto's transgenic corn pipeline. The successful candidate will have prior training and experience in biological science as well as data management and analysis. Candidate will also possess strong interpersonal and time management skills. Some holiday and weekend hours are a requirement.
* Greenhouse Operations: Be fully trained in and actively participate in day to day greenhouse operations including but not limited to planting, nutrient management, pollination, pest management, harvest, seed processing and handling, data collection and entry, soil and pot preparation and regulated plant material waste disposal. Make contributions to process or biological improvements. May be responsible for coordination / oversight of one or more of these operations.
* Data Management:
o Oversee day to day data operations within Mystic PGRM; provide solid guidance and technical support to team members and related teams for data capture as a means to enable consistent and accurate reporting or operations
o Represent PGRM in various data management forums to ensure timely reporting of key issues and consistent follow up on key issues and needs. Representation may be at the site, crop, or function level; will need to establish key contacts with appropriate data teams.
o Routinely and proactively report key performance indicators and curate data
o Provide definition for PGRM data strategy including reporting, tracking and workflow management. Clearly define key gaps or potential improvements, work with key teams to define potential solutions and resource needs, make recommendations for solutions and contributions to prioritization efforts.
Qualifications
*
BS 2 plus years or MS degree in biology or related field; plant biology is preferred
*
Proficiency with databases and MS Office applications, specifically Excel; will need to learn and use proprietary databases. Working knowledge of SQL is a plus.

Strong data management and data analysis skills. Working knowledge of statistics and statistical applications such as JMP is a plus.

Experience that demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail
*
Excellent oral and written communication skills
*
Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to adjust to changes in priority
*
Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team
*
Physical requirements include working in hot environments, exposure to potential allergens including plant pollen, and lifting up to 40lbs
