Description
Monsanto is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Multi Season Program (MSP) operations based in Maui, HI as the Nursery Lead. The Nursery Lead is responsible for all MSP nursery activities on Maui. They will coordinate crop plans with the farm Operations, Manufacturing, and Technology nursery programs and production teams on Maui to insure all program needs and priorities are met.
The Nursery Lead has the opportunity to coordinate and lead operations across several Monsanto organziations as this is a key role in the effective management and implementation of the programs based on Maui. Additionally, this is a unique opportunity to work with leading edge technology and talented research scientists seeking to deliver the best in Genetically Modified Crops.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and coordinate all nursery program operations across the various sites on Maui.
* Maintain the budget for Maui Nursery operations.
* Manage a full time staff and their direct reports within the nursery programs.
* Consult with the Site Lead, Site Operations Lead and program leads on the mainland to insure the success of all programs.
* Develop and implement continuous improvement programs in all aspects of nursery operations.
* Facilitate hiring of full time and temporary employees,
* Support all aspects of HR, ESH and ISO policies and implementation of programs site wide.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
* BS in Agronomy, Crop Science or related agricultural field of study with 8+ years agricultural research experience.
* Broad knowledge of crop production and nursery management.
* 1+ years of direct people management experience.
* Project management experience.
* Team leadership skills including excellent organizational, and record keeping skills.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent computer skills related to Microsoft Office suite
Desired Skills/Experience:
* MS in Agronomy or related field of study with 5+ years agricultural research experience.
