Description
Stromsburg, Nebraska Biotech Station Manager, Biotechnology is recruiting a Station Manager to administer a facility at Stromsburg, NE. This facility will serve as a field-testing network hub for USDA regulated corn trials. This person would provide leadership to a full and part-time staff that is focused on field plot research and seed management.
Biotechnology desires motivated, innovative and energetic candidates that value a team-based organization. Job responsibilities include site-wide leadership across farm/field operations. Leadership activities includes assuring adherence to Monsanto and USDA guidelines for handling and testing transgenic crops and doing these task at the highest regard for safety . The successful applicant needs to be self-motivated, demonstrate leadership, exhibit good management and supervisory skills and possess effective verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational and computer skills are essential. Furthermore, the successful applicant will value diversity and support the Monsanto career path and personal development processes.
The successful applicant should have relevant experience to manage a multifaceted facility. General understandings of field plot research and seed management are nice to have and the ability to understand how this knowledge affects tactical and strategic objectives of biotechnology, Trait Development Pipeline and the Farm Team are important. An appreciation for safety and compliance are essential. The successful candidate should have a holistic view of field research that includes an understanding of the interaction of environment, genetics, traits and timing of data collection on crop growth development and yield. Finally, the successful candidate will provide project and functional leadership across facilities for one or more traits and/or enabling activities.
Qualifications
* MS or PHD degree in Agronomy or related field required with some agricultural-related experience desired.
* People management experience needed
* Would consider candidates with 10 years with both people management and field research background
* Good understanding of and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion.
* Possess an ability to communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders.
* Basic knowledge of crop production and farming practices.
* Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn company data management programs will be a must
