Description
Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated, innovative individual to work as a member of an expanding seed and sample management team. This position is available within the Regulatory Seed & Sample Management team, a group housed within the Agronomic and Environmental Assessment Sciences. The team is responsible for performing inventory, preparation, and distribution of field samples for all Regulatory trials across the world.
Normal daily activities may include
• Use of lab equipment to grind crop samples according to established SOPs.
• Aliquot and dispense prepared crop samples to various analysts and ship samples to laboratories.
• Sample shipping and receipt under GLP, APHIS, EPA, and/or international regulations.
• Sample storage and retrieval in -20°C or -80°C freezers
• Maintenance of GLP compliance via documentation for laboratory equipment.
• Electronic or manual documentation of all sample handling activities.
• Will perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
• Communication with sample owners, other team members, and analysts.
• Understanding of production plans, protocols, and relevant SOP's for the care, handling, and preparation of samples.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit, multi-disciplinary team in a production environment.
• Two or more years of lab experience working under GxPs or ISO 9xxx regulations.
• College coursework in biological sciences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills
• Effective computer skills, specifically using MS Office programs
• Familiarity with one or more LIMS applications.
• Must be eligible to participate in Monsanto's Driver Safety Program
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Desired Skills
• Bachelor of Science degree in biological or chemical sciences.
• Farm or greenhouse experience.
• Materials handling experience, preferably including shipment of regulated or hazardous materials.
