Description
Monsanto is looking for an outstanding scientist to work in the Molecular Team of the Regulatory Product Characterization Center. The molecular team is responsible for generating all the molecular data needed for product submissions. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the TCR group, one of the groups within the molecular team which performs adventitious presence and purity analysis for multiple crops ensuring the quality and identity of materials used in all Regulatory studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving efficiency and effectiveness of the TCR group to allow higher throughput while sustaining data quality. Ability and skills to troubleshoot, improve processes, develop and implement new strategies for analytical methods like Taqman®, Invader® and isothermal amplification are necessary. This position may potentially assist with improvement of lab automation projects and LIMS IT systems development and utilization. Additional responsibilities include providing technical support for other groups in the Molecular team (Southern blot analysis and sequencing activities). The position responsibilities will include that all analysis methods are developed and conducted in strict compliance with GLP standards. Enhancements that improve safety, ergonomics, quality results, costs and workplace environment are encouraged.
The role will require strong communication skills through written reports and oral communications in a timeline driven environment. The candidate must have strong computer skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a very team oriented environment. This position will work with Team Leads and Analysts for support of current and future data analysis systems. A successful candidate will be highly self motivated and have the ability to work without detailed oversight on significant projects.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
Ph.D. with 3 years experience or M.S. with 8 years experience in Molecular Biology or related fields with an emphasis in plant biology / genetics, biotechnology, or plant physiology
Experience working with DNA detection technologies
Excellent communication and team work skills within a diverse organization
Results orientation, problem solving, project management, and multi-tasking skills
Self motivation and ability to meet timelines and project targets with little direct supervision
Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook are required.
