Description
A research associate is needed to be actively involved in the planning for a program to produce, test, and distribute reference materials to support the global registration of our Biotech products. This role requires a large amount of cross-functional coordination. The responsibilities will include insuring that proper field and greenhouse seed productions take place, coordinating with internal and external seed testing facilities, coordinating with field inspectors, sourcing appropriate materials in response to requests, obtaining import and export permits, and managing reference material inventories. The candidate will also be responsible for labwork that includes testing new strategies and technologies for the program (e.g. seed chipping).

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and networking skills and have a proven track record of taking initiative to accomplish his/her goals. The position requires a person who is highly organized, is good with logistics, and takes the initiative to drive decisions. Although this position only has 20% lab component, the person must be able to interpret and fulfill international regulatory requirements for the genotype and purity of the reference material so a basic understanding of genetics and molecular biology is necessary. Basic computer skills utilizing spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and databases are required. The Product Characterization Center is a fast-paced, timeline-driven team environment that requires researchers to contribute at the individual level on group-based projects.
