Description
This role will be responsible to design and develop corporate level audit and compliance program strategies and drive implementation of quality management and compliance systems designed to verify and ensure stewardship across Monsanto functions and regions. The stewardship and compliance lead will develop and execute a coordinated, risk based audit program, plans, drive cross-functional compliance and continuous improvement activities and systems development. The role will be largely focused on plant product stewardship but may include all areas of Monsanto, including chemistry stewardship, as necessary.
The scope of audit and compliance program responsibilities includes Monsanto stewardship policies and processes, field trial and seed quality policies and procedures, industry stewardship standards, biotechnology related government regulations and regulatory commitments, contract stewardship requirements and chemistry stewardship (eg. seed treatments).
This individual will manage an audit team and resources, and conduct audits as Monsanto's lead stewardship auditor, to verify internal and external compliance with Monsanto stewardship policies and standards. The team will develop audit policies and procedures and enhanced IT and management systems for auditor training, audit management, tracking and reporting. In addition, this role will lead cross-functional teams, networks and projects as necessary to meet overall compliance and stewardship objectives.
This role will be accountable to design, implement and oversee compliance management systems to define and track corrective and preventive actions designed to fully address stewardship and compliance issues and prevent re-occurrence. The stewardship and compliance lead will track the status of significant compliance and audit trends, findings and corrective actions to drive closure and will communicate compliance status to management.
Qualifications
* Develop enhanced risk and exposure based stewardship audit strategies defining scope, structure, processes and management systems to enhance and maintain stewardship compliance globally
* Manage stewardship and quality audit and compliance team to develop, implement and maintain stewardship audit and compliance systems and processes to meet overall compliance strategy
* Lead team auditing Monsanto functions and external partners for compliance to Monsanto stewardship policies and processes, industry standards and federal and state regulations.
* Develop and/or enhance stewardship audit policies, procedures and protocols, planning, auditor training and systems for audit planning, management, tracking and reporting
* Determine IT audit system needs, drive development, resourcing and implementation plans
* Lead cross-functional quality and compliance teams (eg. Quality Management Improvement Team) and projects to meet compliance objectives
* Communicate and drive audit best practices across functions and regional networks to increase overall audit effectiveness and coordination
* Determine compliance resource needs and engage management and functions appropriately
* Manage external contractor audit programs, projects and resources including Biotech Field Audit programs
* Prepare functions and regions for external audits, conduct 'mock' preparation audits, drive needed system improvements and host external audits
* Design, implement and oversee compliance management systems to define and track external regulatory commitments, audit findings and corrective and preventive action plans to fully address stewardship and compliance.
* Follow-up with functions and external organizations on the status of commitments and corrective action plans and drive closure through functional leadership
* Develop compliance metrics and report to provide management updates on the overall status of stewardship compliance programs, audit findings and corrective action plans
