Responsibilities:

'Assist with all field nursery tasks from planting to harvesting, and seed conditioning for planting and shipping.
'Supervise employees in the field to assure accurate and prompt completion of nursery tasks.
'Assure all plant material is properly identified throughout the nursery cycle.
'Take and enter data accurately. Regularly scouts nurseries for pests or unusual phenotypes.
'Supervise pollinations in the field assuring seed quantity and quality targets are reached.
'Work with others to coordinate drying, shelling, and conditioning of seed for shipping or turning on-site.
'Actively participate of Monsanto safety programs, perform safety inspections, and comply with all internal and external safety regulations. Assist providing safety training and guidance to field personnel.
'Follow SOPs and comply with all policies and regulations that apply to the job.
'Assists other projects and perform other duties as required.

Requirements:
'Ability to read and understand documents in English and Spanish, such as safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and manuals. Ability to write and fill reports such as safety inspections. Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
'Ability to understand and perform instructions in writing, verbally or in diagrams. Ability to manage and solve problems in normal situations or pre-defined ones.
'Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unit of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, proportions and percents. To draw and to interpret bar graphs.
'Experience with basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired skills/education/experience/attributes:
'HS and four years of relevant experience, or AA and 2 years of relevant experience, or BS.
'Ability to supervise and lead workers in the field
'Computer skills. Ability to take data accurately and operate various research equipment for seed nursery production
'Ability to read and understand instructions in English, in addition to Spanish.
'Understanding of corn biology, crop protection, and cultural practices.
'Good communication and learning skills.
'Awareness of safety and compliance.
