PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This position’s primary responsibilities are providing support and guidance on technical accounting issues and policies to the Corporate, U.S., International and China accounting teams and assists in the development and maintenance of YUM!’s accounting policies. In addition, this position is actively involved with YUM’s quarterly and annual SEC reporting. The ideal candidate should possess strong presentation, communication and analytical skills. This individual must be able to operate independently and be able to manage competing projects and demands.



JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Partner with the Technical Accounting Director to maintain YUM’s accounting policies including documentation of new policies and update existing policies to comply with current generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). (25%)
* Research new FASB and SEC accounting rules and reporting requirements to determine the impact on YUM. Proactively develop processes to comply with applicable GAAP. (10%)
* Assist in the research and resolution of technical accounting questions or issues. This includes gaining alignment with the Corporate Controller, Assistant Corporate Controller, Division accounting leadership teams as well as external auditors. (15%)
* Assist with quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements including preparation or review of consolidated Management Discussion and Analysis analyses and related SEC disclosures. Prepare quarterly and annual disclosure checklists. (25%)
* Perform the annual SFAS 142 intangible and goodwill impairment analyses (totaling $675MM of goodwill in 14 separate reporting units). This project includes preparing and documenting fair value determination for certain reporting unit including documentation of key assumptions used in the calculations. (10%)
* Coordinate internal accounting update meetings. (5%)
* Other special projects as assigned (10%)


Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: BA/BS degree in Accounting - MBA or advanced degree a plus



EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):

* CPA required
* At least 10 years of public accounting or industry accounting experience, preferably with SEC registrants;
* In depth understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations;
* Common sense approach to implementing technical accounting matters;
* Self starter with food organization skills and ability to manage multiple assignments;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Team player that possesses strong influencing skills;
* Solid Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills;
