Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Web Media Designer is responsible for creative conception and production/maintenance of graphics, content, and media on assigned brand owned web and Portal communication vehicles, delivering consistent, timely and relevant content to brand RSC, Restaurant and Franchise associates.
Organizations Supported:
* System-wide domestic A&W and Long John Silver’s brands.
* Primary focus is developing graphic, multimedia and targeted content, maintaining existing site content, and partnering with Brand Communications Leader/Team supporting brand strategic initiatives, brand standards and requirements and development of new technology opportunities to enhance Communications. Partner with Communication team, HR team and consultants to coordinate projects.
POSITION FUNCTIONS:
The person in this position will work closely with the Communications, Training and HR Teams and must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Team Collaboration (30%) – Partner with Brand Communication Leader and team tosupport all brand restaurants, above restaurant and Franchise communication needs. Explore and champion new uses of web communication and provide technology coaching to Brand Communication Leader.
* Site Maintenance (30%) – Own maintenance of existing sites for assigned brand including content and graphic design, content posting, readiness testing and documentation. Possess working knowledge of brand site portfolio and associated business processes and communication strategy. Develop expert knowledge of day-to-day communication needs.
* Client Education (20%) – Participate in educating internal RSC clients with respect to web development tools, publishing and design standards and procedures. Ensure internal RSC and external Franchisee clients are aware of web tools, functionality, and uses. Maintain working relationships with all internal and external clients to ensure strategic alignment and flawless execution.
* Projects (10%) – Provide time estimates on client requirements with assistance from project leader and other support teams. Take leadership role in project implementation.
* Problem Resolution (10%) – Work with clients to resolve problems with posting, content and technical issues. Act as liaison with IT support teams to secure resolution.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
* Direct report to Manager, Internal Communications
* Partner with Franchisees to ensure Portal sites are user friendly and meet the needs of owners and restaurant teams.
* Partner with key RSC team members to ensure internal site is user friendly and meet the needs of the team.
* Partner with Multimedia, Creative Services and agency teams to ensure consistent execution of brand standards on all sites.
* Partner with Brand IT and Central RIS teams to ensure consistent technical knowledge and assist with upgrade/refresh events.
* Partner with additional brand Web Media Designers to fulfill backup and emergency coverage needs
Minimum Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
EDUCATION:
Bachelors of Arts or Science in Graphics, Communications, Computer Science or related field or equivalent technical training.
EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):
* 5+ years experience in one or more of the following: Communications; Multimedia / Graphics design; Web technologies
* 2+ years Project Management experience
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
* Practical experience with web-based content management tools (IBM Web Content Management preferred) including the following subset of skills:
- Demonstrated ability to:
* Use the Web Content Management API
* Navigate and use the development user interface
* Implement and manage workflows
* Implement and manage library access and item security
* Design and create a site information architecture, including the site framework, site areas, and a category taxonomy
* Create content items
* Create components such as images and style sheets
* Add navigators to the site
* Create menus
* Implement search functionality
* Manage item versions and restore items
- Applying personalization
- Creating and using authoring templates
- Creating and using presentation templates
- Developing site structures
- Creating workflows
- Thorough understanding of syndication process
* Knowledge of IT system development life cycle
