Description

This position designs, plans and manages complex or major research and development projects resulting in new or improved products and processes. This position works directly with Brand Managers and cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop new menu items for KFC.

* Provides R&D leadership and representation on cross functional project teams. Attends weekly team meetings, updates and discusses deliverables, barriers and solutions. Acts as liaison between team and Senior Manager. Develops new products with support and input from cross-functional areas. 15%
* Evaluates and recommends products from suppliers. Performs research guidance consumer tests and in-market research tests, interprets results and recommends next steps. Evaluates overall consumer acceptance of new products. 25%
* Designs & conducts research as needed to approve new product ideas, procedures or products. 10%
* Develops operational procedures and specifications for new products which yield a safe and consistent quality product. Researches and establishes equipment set points, cook and hold times. Evaluates and validates consumer acceptance of products throughout the cooking and hold times, across all approved holding equipment 25%
* Coaches and supports technician’s efforts against project objectives. Provides direction to vendors and consultants. 15%
* Leads cross-functional teams. Structures, prepares and delivers presentations with confidence and impact to Sr. Management. Coach cross-functional team members. 10%· Travel required - as project related.

Minimum Requirements

§ Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related scientific field. M.S. Preferred. 7-9 years food industry experience. Strong product/project management experience. Some people management experience a plus. Strong interpersonal skills and strong personal initiative. Must have strong collaborative nature and be a team player. Must be able to present material in composed and confident manner. Accountable to build know how of peers and leadership by discussing the contradictions. Must be able to apply data-driven hard facts with business acumen and judgment. Ability and rapport to coach and direct technical and non-technical associates. Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects while delivering breakthrough results. Must be able to execute projects within timelines and budgets. Must be able to quickly anticipate and identify potential challenges and proactively recommend course of action to resolve. Must be resourceful to find new sources of information and innovations.
