Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Provide lab testing for validation of equipment performance and provide operations; engineering data collection / analysis to measure back of house implications of process changes. This role will particularly focus on Beverages (75%) and Oven Innovation (25%) initiatives in 2010.
JOB SIZE:
KFC, YUM Restaurant International Organizations Supported: Product Support Center Team, International Business Units, Supply Chain Management, Development, Marketing, and Operations.
Restaurants/Markets (Indicate Franchise/Equity): International KFC restaurants, company or franchise.
# Lab testing and analysis of new beverage equipment and changes to existing beverage equipment (includes food safety validation, syrup dispensers, pellet ice machines, bits dispensing) - 40%
# Support the 'All in One' Krushers equipment prototype by conducting long term durability tests and validating performance with lead markets - 20%
# Provide operations standards and labor analysis for beverage initiatives (time & motion studies, capacity analysis, ergonomic assessments) - 15%
# Support development of gas ovens for the oven innovation layer by conducting engineering tests (long term durability, air flow measurements, gas valve refinement, installation requirements) - 15%
# Support development of oven innovation workstations and smallwares by working with YUM approved equipment suppliers and coordinating designs with field teams - 10%

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Cross Functional Team Members from Research and Development, Product Support Center, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Operations, Finance & Development.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
2+ yrs of technical training in engineering or food science; or 4 year bachelors degree in food science or other science degree
EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):
* Technical experience in cooperative internship or education
* Familiarity with restaurant operations and equipment design and manufacturing preferred
* Ability to create structured scientific tests and a methodical approach to data capturing and analysis
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
