Senior Structural Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities



Great opportunity to support Structural engineering team part of National Buildings design practice. Lead responsibility for technical direction of a group of engineers or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts, techniques, and standards. Develops solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, power controls, piping, structures and earthwork to achieve the goal: Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications: Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects: Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer: May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations: May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering task.

Training and Experience



Position requires a minimum of 7 years of experience required; BS and MS in structural engineering discipline with PE registration required. We require LEED AP certification in addition to proficiency with AutoCad and BIM. In addition we seek a structural engineer who is familiar with structural engineering software ie. ETABS, RAM, and ADAPT. Position requires experience in design of new structures as well as rennovation and strengthening of existing structures. Familiarity with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and foundation design. In depth knowledge of model building codes such as IBC and ASCE. Familiar with UFC and GSA standards for Progressive Collapse design. Demonstrated experience in leading all phases of projects from preliminary design through construction including the ability to monitor quality, schedule and budget throughout the design process. US citizen with ability to obtain DOD and other government clearances within 6 month's.

Candidate must be able to carry 25 #'s for a distance of 50' and have the physical capacity to make site visits; which includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven construction surface and being exposed to construction dust.
