Primary Job Responsibilities
Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity. Work performed with minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Researches, develops, and designs a variety of HVAC and plumbing systems for government, commercial and industrial facilities. Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, controls, piping and ductwork to achieve the goal: Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems: Participates in planning, cost development, management, and scheduling for assigned projects: Directs activities to ensure that design, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer: Will use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Training and Experience
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering. 5-15 years of design experience in an A/E environment with data centers, central utility plants, and critical facilities for government, commercial and institutional clients; LEED accredited with strong knowledge of life cycle cost studies and sustainable design. Experience with BIM and 3D design in Microstation or Autocad is required.
Other Essential Functions
PE License, US citizenship and current TS/SCI secuirty clearance required.
Other Requirements
Ability to carry 20 pounds for a distance of 50 feet.
