Senior Structural Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities



Provide detailed analysis and design of constructed waterway and non-waterway facilities. Will perform design calculations and provide engineering design input for the design of both concrete and structural steel waterway, waterfront and landslide structures and foundations. Client interactions and field visits are necessary, along with a strong working ethic and inter-personal skills, as the role will involve working as part of an integrated team.





Training and Experience



MS in Civil/Structural Engineering as well as a Professional Engineer license are required with strong geotechnical, civil, structural, and hydraulic structures engineering discipline skills. A minimum 15 years experience is required with demonstrated expertise in the structural analysis and design of USACE facilities including, but not limited to, Dams, Locks, Gates, Mooring Stations, Docking Facilities, Bulkheads, Dolphins, and other similar structures. Must possess working knowledge in USACE standards, guidelines and engineering procedures. Strong computer skills are required including Microsoft Office applications and some technical engineering software such as STAAD, GTStrudl, SAP, or other general finite element programs. Good technical writing and report writing skills are advantageous.





Other Essential Functions



Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gar or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights. No exposure to tobacco smoke.
