Description

Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re-stock, etc); and, (3) completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy (drug charges & credits etc) (4) employ specific aseptic technique skills in a laminar flow hood or safety cabinet preparing intravenous therapy under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.

Qualifications

Education:

* High School Diploma required; college-level courses desirable but not required; successful completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program required

Licenses / Certifications:

* Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required

Experience:

*
(Preferred) two or more years of experience in a hospital or health system. 2011 Specific State Board of Pharmacy Instruction completed OR 1500 hours under a supervised registered pharmacist.
