Job Function Plan overall communication strategy for FIRETHORN, complete oversight of global PR agency and FIRETHORN communications staff who execute press outreach, media events, media calls, collateral, crisis communications support and press material development. Create PR programs that positively position the FIRETHORN brands and align closely with marketing campaigns, using the most effective communications tools and practices, to reinforce the FIRETHORN message.

Responsibilities
. Execute focused public relations and communications plans, ideas and programs that support the strategic messages of the Firethron brand (s)
o Create, launch and implement a comprehensive, targeted, and sustainable consumer driven public relations program that supports Firethorn marketing plan
. Manage and develop communication plans to internal and external stakeholders, while contributing to creative public relations and marketing strategies within agreed budget limits.
. Working with brand management, develop opinion leader program to maximize PR/editorial content coverage for our brand.
. Create and execute large scale, web-based campaigns to expand awareness and align resources for the Firethorn brands
. Working closely with the brand management team, emulate the Obama campaign's viral communications model:
o Leverage the Firethorn web site and official social networking channels.
o Create, write and maintain a Firethorn blog that engages consumers, bloggers and industry analyst to interact with our brand.
o Create and maintain a presence on relevant social media outlets
. Create company-wide collateral and marketing materials, i.e. newsletter, annual report, brochures, special event materials, electronic newsletter, etc.
. Creator of content for Firethorn.com (all web properties) and marketing programs - you need to love writing and communicating, and find joy in effectively getting the message across.
o Oversee development and launch of a new multifunctional website
. Manage relationships with agency partners
. Manage communications calendar
. Track and archive media clips
. In conjunction with the brand management team, develop key messages for all audiences to communicate our core brand identity.
. Manage media relations, research editorial opportunities and build relationships with key industry media. Update and maintain journalist/publication editorial calendars.
. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure proper messaging of company beliefs and service offerings.
. Develop and manage the communications budget.
. Manage distribution of press releases and media information in a timely and effective manner.
. In conjunction with the brand management team, oversee the tone, style and content of product fact sheets for new releases and all press kit materials.
. Supervise legal communication approval process
. Represent company at select industry conferences, media events and seminars
Skills/Experience . 10+ year's relevant experience with a consumer facing brand (CPG or FMCG).
. Thorough understanding of branding principles and tactics through multimedia including web 2.0 and beyond
. Proven ability to design, develop and implement both strategic programs and supporting tactics.
. Superior written and verbal communications skills, coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills.
. Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high client expectations.
. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and business concepts and express them in clear language.
. Flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes.
. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and flexibly in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment of a growing company.
Self-starter with the ability to forge relationships and add value across entire organization.
. Proven desire and ability to think creatively in driving Public Relations efforts.
. Willingness to innovate and develop relationships with key opinion leaders and organizations.
. Ability to prioritize and get things done.
. Excellent computer and proofreading / editing skills.
