Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Pilot Plant PLC Technician at its facility in Tamaqua (Hometown), Pennsylvania.

The candidate will be able to perform all duties consistent with manufacturing various compounds in a pilot plant setting. The candidate will also have familiarity with PLC programming and trouble-shooting. Must be familiar with the operation of reactors, centrifuges, refrigeration and heating systems, gas cylinders and rotary vacuum driers. Must also be familiar with packaging solids, liquids and gases and be capable of operating a fork lift. Responsibilities include supporting new pilot plant operations with PLC programming as well as trouble-shooting existing PLCs at the various pilot plant. Additional responsibilities include recording and reporting all deviations from normal operating conditions and performing routine equipment maintenance as required. Other responsibilities include maintaining an up-to-date R&D notebook, maintaining a safe work environment, and following all Air Products corporate standards for laboratory and pilot plant EH&S. The candidate must also be willing to work swing shift or continuous shift as required by project demands.

Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalence
* Some PLC programming and trouble-shooting experience
* A minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience with chemical plant unit operations
* Experience with handling hazardous chemicals such as F2 and HF preferred
* Familiar with repairing pilot plant equipment
* Willing to work shift work and occasional weekends
* Capable of fabricating pilot plants
* Familiarity with analytical instruments
