Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a CUSTOMER STATIONS MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The customer stations EST Maintenance group supports 85+ field technicians that install, maintain and operate 6000+ cryogenic liquid and bulk gas systems across North America. The Equipment Support team is a 24/365 phone support with many years of varying lab, field, and shop experiences. They take phone calls directly from customers to analyze the problem, engage the appropriate support personnel if needed and dispatch the field technicians as needed.

The Customer Stations Maintenance Specialist is part of that team and will be responsible for the day-to-day technical support of the field technicians, on-going maintenance programs and monitoring a number of parameters around complex high pressure pumping systems in LIN/LOX/LAR and LHY applications. This person will help analyze day-to-day system issues, develop action plans to rectify these immediate problems and report back to Product/Project Engineering on any systemic design issues. This person will work across many groups to identify areas of improvement, implement these plans and provide feedback on cost and equipment optimization, reliability and design considerations. This interaction will necessitate working with many areas of the Liquid Bulk Business: Customer/Product Engineering, Field Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, Logistics, Central Materials, Gen Gas business areas, and Environmental, Health and Safety.

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintaining safe, reliable and efficient system operations.
• Complex system troubleshooting and remote diagnostics for pumps, compressors, PLC’s, electrical control panels and various auxiliary equipment.
• Assisting in equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
• Troubleshooting the causes of system operation variances and alarms, either directly or in conjunction with the local tech.
• Providing direct interface with the field tech personnel and the Customer Engineering groups with regard to system operations.
• Generate equipment maintenance manuals, electrical training documents, instrument and controls calibration procedures and maintenance bulletins.
• Providing documentation and training for low voltage electrical circuits, basic pump/compression operation and maintenance and troubleshooting training programs and seminars. Provide customer alarm handling documents including hazards, risks and training for on-site equipment.
• Involvement/input into new technology design and standardization.
• Local/Remote start-up support as required.
• Work with the Area Maintenance Manager’s and field technicians to coordinate field upgrades, changes and major maintenance activities utilizing standards and the eMOC process.
• Executing productivity ideas and best practices to keep system costs down.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma a minimum.
• Experience in operations, maintenance and/or monitoring of process equipment. Proficient in reading P&ID’s, electrical diagrams.
• Mechanical component design understanding, basic understanding of machine shop practices and major and minor repair capabilities.
• Proficient in low-voltage electrical, instrumentation, and calibration.
• Strong computer skills and proficient in excel with exposure to drawing programs and diagnostic programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with various disciplines across Customer Engineering.
• Must be a self-starter who takes initiative in learning and implementing new methods, concepts or technologies.
• Must be a team player that is flexible and adaptable. Should be comfortable with change and have the ability to optimize processes and systems.
• Strong organizing and planning skills, including the ability to multi-task and to make effective decisions when dealing with competing priorities.
• Experience with and knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Standards with a demonstrated commitment to safety.
