Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an experienced Market Manager.

The Market Manager has market and new product development responsibilities to support key markets and programs in the Functional Additives business. The incumbent will help develop and direct market programs, new product development opportunities, pricing strategies and competitive analysis in order to have the business achieve its key financial goals. The position will focus on the North America, Latin America and South America markets. The incumbent will be involved in the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans for the region, and will have an opportunity to work on new development programs that have global scope and impact.

The incumbent will work within the Americas marketing organization and will predominantly support North America, Latin America and South America, although there is the flexibility to work on global programs as well. The focus will be on executing marketing responsibilities such as market segment analysis, pricing analysis, competitive analysis and new product development in order to implement our business model of value-added profitable growth. The business encompasses a broad product line requiring technical knowledge selling to numerous global and regional markets. Proprietary technology development and commercialization are keys to success for the business. The incumbent will work with cross-functional teams to generate new product opportunities and implement technology programs to enhance our product line portfolio position. He/She must work within/direct a matrix organization as a team through direct and indirect influence in order to achieve desired results.

The markets served are also diverse, and both regional and global in nature, requiring understanding and leadership in marketing and customer relationship management.

The incumbent works with members of the marketing and sales organizations, as well as the supply chain teams, to accomplish an effective demand planning capability for the business.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop new sales opportunities with Sales and Technical orgs.

• Support development of regional strategies of the business to maximize performance results.

• Execute operating plan objectives to achieve Margin performance targets of the Functional Additives business.

• Do competitive analysis of key competitors and customers.

• Do market research on key market segments---I&I (Industrial and Institutional) cleaning, mining, and emerging markets like sanatization.

• Support development and implementation of work processes that improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Support/Develop effective marketing, sales and customer strategies.

• Support/Lead the implementation of Demand Planning activities.

• Support/Develop and implement business improvement opportunities.

• Work on market development teams to identify trends in key market segments and develop new products to meet market needs.

• Do pricing analysis and develop/implement geographic, product line and customer segment price strategies.

• Develop and implement marketing communications programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS degree plus an MBA (preferred)
- 4-6 years of marketing experience in the chemicals industry with a focus on surfactants
