Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING POLICIES AND SPECIALTY ACCOUNTING at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The incumbent is expected to develop and/or maintain an expertise in FASB and SEC regulations. This position will lead the implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards along with presenting their impact on the financial statements to senior management. Comment letters to the FASB and SEC on proposed new standards will be prepared by the incumbent. Accounting policies related to Technical Accounting will be maintained by this position along with the development of new policies and work practices. The position will be the team led to ensure compliance with SOX 404 for financial reporting on a worldwide basis. This position is also the process owner for the accounting for derivative instruments and pension and other post-retirement plans on a global basis.

The position is a key contact to answer US GAAP accounting questions and process inquiries, and ensuring appropriate training of process participants resulting in the strengthening of financial and operational controls (worldwide). It also includes staying current with the SEC’s project regarding the potential adoption of IFRS and ensuring consistent adoption of IFRS by our foreign affiliates. This position is responsible for the review of US GAAP adjustments on a worldwide basis.

The individual should exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, senior management, and external auditors. The incumbent should also have prior supervisory skills, independent initiative, planning and organizing skills, and should have a proven ability to lead teams and solve complex problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• An undergraduate degree in accounting is required; MBA preferred
• CPA with Big 4 experience required
• Senior audit manager at Big 4 firm preferred
• Seven to ten years of progressive experience in accounting
• Managerial experience
• Very strong US GAAP Accounting Theory and Application Skills are required.
