Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an IMMEDIATE opening for an experienced Principal Process Engineer at its Tempe, AZ facility.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The DA Nano Process Engineer is responsible for developing, deploying, troubleshooting, improving and optimizing the processes, equipment, and analytical systems necessary to manufacture chemical-mechanical planarization slurries to the exacting and ever increasing standards of semiconductor manufacturing industry. This position will provide key technical support for development and commercial products throughout their life cycle, including improving their quality, consistency, and production cost, as well as participating in the resolution of customer quality issues or product performance excursions.
The incumbent will work in laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing settings supporting both DA Nano and our global manufacturing partners.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Take new product development data and/or small volume manufacturing (SVM) data and define the technology and manufacturing processes necessary to translate these products to full scale manufacturing.
• Conduct evaluations of proposed raw material sources and support the Supply Chain organization in establishing the SQC processes and specifications necessary to monitor and manage raw material quality.
• Provide process engineering support for the commissioning and start-up new equipment and/or production facilities
• Establish and implement process models and statistical process control schemes to monitor process inputs and outputs, and conduct designed experiments to and reduce the sources of process or product variability
• Support the Technology and Product Management teams in resolving customer quality issues and product performance excursions.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• A BS or MS in Chemical Engineering. A degree in other engineering disciplines may be considered if accompanied by direct experience in chemical manufacturing or chemical product development.
• A minimum of 4 years experience with at least 3 years direct experience with chemical manufacturing, chemical process engineering, or chemical product development.
• Demonstrated capability in process modeling and process troubleshooting
• Direct experience using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) to troubleshoot and/or improve chemical processes.
• Electronics industry experience is a plus
• Must be willing to travel (domestic and international) up to 50% of the time.
