Position Description
Description
HR Benefits Accounting Department (HRBA) is part of Parent Company. The specific role of HRBA is that of a liaison between Corporate Comptrollers and Human Resources. HRBA records the U.S. GAAP pension and postretirement expense and liability entries in consolidation as well as the quarterly and annual employee benefit footnote disclosure. In addition, HRBA manages the audits of the employee benefit plans along with the related plan financial statements and 5500 filings with the Department of Labor.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Prepare quarterly corporate US GAAP journal entries as well as 10-K and 10-Q disclosures for all of our world-wide plans;
• Prepare monthly/quarterly plan accounting and annual reporting (including work papers, financial statements and Form 5500s) for our various employee benefit plan programs;
• Determine allocation percentage for domestic pension expense and compile amount to be charged to business units;
• Work closely with business units to reconcile amounts reported for US and foreign pension plans;
• Work closely with Corporate Financial Reporting group, external and internal auditors on quarterly and year-end reporting disclosures;
• Work closely with Human Resource, Legal departments, external auditors and vendors, et al. on matters related to plan administration, accounting, reporting and annual benefit plan audits;
• Ability to initiate process improvements.
Requirements include:
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting;
• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred;
• 2-4 years accounting experience, including 2-4 years in either Public accounting or audit;
• Operational knowledge of corporate accounting systems and ledgers desirable;
• Strong written and verbal communications skills;
• Strong accounting and analytical skills;
• Familiarity with benefit plan accounting a plus;
• Ability to meet deadlines, work in a team environment, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks;
• Strong PC skills; particularly Excel and Word;
• Flexibility required as needed based on deadlines.
