Position Description
Vice President Independent Distribution – External Wholesale

For more than half a century, VALIC has served as a leading plan provider for K-12 schools and school districts, as well as for higher education and healthcare institutions. We are currently interviewing for a Vice President Independent Distribution - External Wholesale.

Position Overview
As a Vice President for Independent Distribution Wholesaler you will support sales partners with group support systems, product training, business planning and day to day support in selling VALIC products.

The person in this role will be expected to achieve agreed upon sales objectives; grow assigned territory and achieve the agreed upon number of independent selling advisors.

This position is responsible for:
 Training
 Selling through objections
 Assigning advisors to VALIC groups and developing and managing specific goals for each group assigned
 Building a territory to effectively support currently appointed advisors and find new advisors
 Developing business plans with independent advisors that establish mutual expectations. Reviewing and adjust these plans as needed.

The best people in this role have initiative, are self-starters, motivated.
They have strong energy around sales; possess the ability to create and manage according to set business plan.

Organization:
This position will report to the EVP Independent Distributions. There are currently 6 other VP Independent Distribution Wholesalers on the team.

Performance Objectives:
Success in this role will be measured by achieving sales numbers and the development and management of a territory plan that effectively utilizes resources such as internal wholesaling partner. This includes an ongoing ranking of advisors and the completion and management of business plans with independent advisors.

Challenges:
1. Building territories while coordinating smartly with the career side
2. Managing the independent distribution concerns over coordination with the career force (their perception).
3. The introduction of the independent distribution channel to VALIC
4. Delivering value added that will reinforce partnerships that endure times when we will not have the most competitive offerings.

Position Requirements
 Must have a strong sales background and have at least 5 years experience as an external wholesaler.
 Strong communication and presentation skills.
 At least series 6 FINRA securities license
