Position Description
SunAmerica is a financial services company specializing in retirement savings and investment products and services. The Market Risk Management (MRM) group at SunAmerica focuses on the management and hedging of the market risks embedded in retirement savings products, especially Variable Annuity Living Benefit guarantees. The group is comprised of a variety of professionals including actuaries, financial engineers, programmers, and risk managers. The current opening, which is described below, is for an Actuarial Student.

Duties
1)Responsible for the actuarial assumption management process for the MRM models. These are proprietary models in a vended actuarial software system (MOSES).
2)Responsible for the policyholder information data management processes.
a)Run processes to extract policyholder information data from Administrative Systems and/or Data Warehouses for input into a MRM system.
b)Help design and run data integrity checks on this information.
c)Periodically define requirements for enhancing this data management process.
3)Provide analytic support to senior actuarial staff.
4)Oversee large distributed processing runs in MOSES on servers.
5)Produce risk reports and other management reports.
6)Assist in the physical maintenance of the group’s software-library repository.
7)Perform regression tests and other end user level tests of changes made to MOSES model, especially to the liability and product functionality.
8)Design and test controls to ensure that results are accurate.

Position Requirements
1)Successfully sitting for actuarial examinations with the goal of obtaining an FSA.
2)One to five years of experience in the insurance industry.
3)Knowledge of MOSES or other actuarial software.
4)Knowledge of MATLAB is preferred though knowledge of another high-level programming language such as VBA or C/C++ would be acceptable.
5)Some knowledge of SQL or Access is preferred.
6)FRM, CFA, or MS in quantitative discipline would be a plus.
7)Detail and process oriented.
8)Comfortable working in a structured environment that emphasizes operational controls.
