Position Description
Position Overview
American General is seeking a Director of Sales Training who will be involved in designing, facilitating and leading training initiatives with the Company’s Field Marketing Consultants (FMCs) and Internal Marketing Consultants (IMCs). Areas of responsibility include facilitating and designing training courses for internal Life Insurance, Annuities and A&H sales. The ideal candidate will design and facilitate basic to advanced sales training courses; plan, develop and implement a training curriculum for new and existing internal and external sales staff aimed at educating staff on incentive plans and driving overall sales production.

Organization Structure and Interface
This position works closely with the senior sales leadership of American General, reporting directly to the Chief Sales/Distribution Officer.

Performance/Key Responsibilities
 Evaluate and/or design training curriculums and begin to implement trainings over the first 60 days.
 Work to develop strong relationships with senior sales leadership to understand their needs for internal sales training on an on-going basis.
 Design and implement an on-boarding process for all new sales hires to assimilate them into American General’s culture and business.
 Implement a curriculum for both internal sales that ensures all new and existing hires obtain the skills to become successful and understand business objectives (incentive plans, etc).
 Serve as a presenter for national account meetings & webinars.
 Work in close partnership with the Creative Services Sales & Marketing team to ensure message consistency.
 Facilitate sales training via classroom, media, etc as well as individual coaching on an ongoing basis.

Position Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

 The ideal candidate for this position needs to have 7+ years in a sales education or training capacity including instructional design, webinar and podcast development and sales presentation experience. Preferably in Life Insurance, Annuities and A&H.
 Experience overseeing training for a call center environment.
 Previous sales management or external wholesaling experience is a plus.
 Exposure to life insurance products, annuities and investments is preferred.
 Professional skills must include facilitation, instructional design expertise, project management and consulting.
 Bachelors in Business, Finance, Marketing or related studies is preferred.
