Position Description
As a Field Marketing Consultant, you will operate as an Internal Wholesaler focused on increasing sales production and enhancing American General’s competitive position through exceptional communication of product based solutions, training and case design concepts for one or more of American General Life’s regions. While acting as an independent sales person you will align and function as part of an overall Regional Sales team to support the field and drive sales.
Specifically, you will:
• Make proactive outbound telephone sales contacts to IMOs, agencies and producers to discuss agency niche opportunities, challenges, product solutions, sales ideas and advanced sales concepts to drive increased sales.
• Conduct weekly teleconferences and web casts as a complement to sales calls.
• Partner with Regional Vice President on development of regional business plan and execution of Plan.
• Travel into assigned region two times a year.
• Generate sales ideas and participate in special projects to boost sales.
Position Requirements
Ideal candidate will have:
• 2+ years experience in Life or Annuities, with an emphasis on sales or marketing preferred.
• Knowledge of life insurance industry, life and annuity products and familiarity with sales and advanced sales concepts.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet. Illustration Software, preferred.
• Ability to exercise a great deal of personal discretion and judgment in carrying out sales, training and promotional activities
• Must have the ability to maintain objectivity among many groups/individuals, to communicate in a diplomatic manner, to effectively handle changing and/or stressful situations as well as to diffuse conflict and negotiate win-win outcomes
• Strong interpersonal, oral communication and business writing skills.
• Demonstrated record of initiative, leadership, problem-solving and adaptability.
• Excellent public and telephone speaking skills with the ability to plan, organize, develop and deliver effective concepts and presentations to a targeted audience.
