Position Description
Position Summary

The American General Life Companies (AGLC) Shared Service Compliance Department is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory and AGLC requirements and standards, and for implementing AGLC compliance-related initiatives related to best practice standards. These objectives are accomplished through (1) analysis and implementation of new regulatory requirements, (2) reviewing company and agent advertising materials, (3) resolving customer and regulatory complaints and inquiries, (4) monitoring operational activities, and (5) managing, on behalf of the organization, regulatory market conduct examinations.

A Compliance Associate’s customers are regulatory personnel, distributors, and AGLC management, IT, and key business area personnel. This position partners with AGLC Legal.

Organizational Reporting

The Compliance Associate reports to the Director of Regulatory Compliance.

Performance Objectives

Below are the top critical performance objectives to be accomplished by a Compliance Associate:
• Review new laws and regulations and determine their applicability to AGLC companies.
• Provide written analyses and distribute new laws and regulations to affected business areas.
• Manage the implementation process for distributed laws and regulations, forming/leading working groups, as needed, to accomplish.
• Produce/review field bulletins, internal operational documents, and forms for compliance with company standards.
• Monitor implementation results for continuous improvement.
• Manage and/or coordinate implementation of AGLC compliance programs and initiatives.
• Represent the Compliance Department in AGLC product and marketing program development groups.
• Serve as Regulatory Examination Coordinator for market conduct examinations for AGLC companies.

Position Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• 7 years experience in insurance, financial services, consulting or project management. Compliance and Operations experience strongly preferred.
• Strong planning and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and issue resolution ability.
• Proven track record of delivering and managing multiple and/or complex projects successfully.
• Prior experience in compliance-related initiatives strongly preferred.
• Ability to provide leadership, direction and support as required.
