We are seeking to hire a qualified candidate to fill the position of Design Engineer in our Houston, TX location.
Job Summary
The candidate will focus on design projects for downhole drive systems, including both turbines and motors. Design projects will range from innovating current product lines to developing entirely new concepts and technologies. The candidate will be responsible for not just design but calculations and modeling when they are required to support the final product.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 3-10 years positive displacement motor (PDM) design experience
· Three years CAD / 3D Modeling experience
Desired Qualifications:
· PRO/Engineer package experience
· Demonstrated ability to innovate existing technologies and design "clean sheet" tools or technologies
· Experience performing load and stress calculations both mathematically and using finite element methods, including CFD
· Skilled in interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME
· Familiar with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting and forging and how to design components for these processes
· Project management experience and / or training including understanding of project engineering concepts, such as Gantt charts, A3 thinking or similar business models or philosophies
· Oil field rotary shouldered connection design
· Other downhole or oilfield tool design experience
· Directional drilling tool design and demonstrated understanding of directional drilling principles
· Understanding of basic materials engineering principles and experience with a variety of materials for use in designs, including non-ferrous metals, ceramics and super-hard materials
· Experience with quality systems, procedure writing, safety protocols and similar “second level” design requirements for new products
