Description:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our team in Lenexa, KS. Responsibilities will include purchasing raw materials and supplies to support company operations. Materials purchased must meet specifications and the cost must be competitive for market conditions.

Essential Functions:

- Identify and establish vendors that can provide raw material cost reductions.
- Review the actual spend performance against established standard and baseline costs.
- Identify and prioritize materials for cost reduction activities.
- Develop and maintain material plans that meet market budgetary and performance goals such as inventory turns, on hand inventory dollars and excess /obsolete material removal.
- Place orders with vendors on items requisitioned or required based on ERP procurement messages in a timely manner. Expedite materials as required to meet required date. Ensure appropriate stock levels of all required materials, equipment and supplies in support of production requirements.
- Review inventory levels to identify slow moving, excess and/or obsolete material items to determine disposition.
- Assist in the completion of scheduled physical inventories.
- Meet with and/or contact sales representatives of vendors as required. Work with key suppliers to establish leading edge procurement practices such as consignment, demand-pull or Kanban.
- Communicate with receiving and accounting in order to resolve pricing or receiving discrepancies when an invoice appears to be incorrect.
- Work in conjunction with the Logistics Manager to establish the best incoming transportation routing for each raw material purchased. Consider transit time and relative costs to select carriers.
- Cooperate and communicate with production and other departments.


Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

- BA/BS degree with 3-4 years of experience or Associate Degree with 5-6 years of experience
- Proficient in MRP / MRPII software, preferably SAP.
- Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, Access and MS Project.
- Possess good analytical skills and math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Familiar with Lean Manufacturing process, 5S, Kanban.
