PURPOSE -
The purpose of this position is to achieve assigned profit and volume goals through profitable execution of HNA affiliate sales and customer marketing programs for a top HPC customer. The incumbent will work with category development, CBP, Supply Chain, Field Finance, and other cross functional areas in HNA and Target to plan and develop account specific merchandising / assortment / pricing / shelving programs in accordance with strategic direction of the assigned brands and categories. Further, the BDM will provide category thought leadership to drive the customer's thinking within the categories that Heinz competes.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Develop and execute a strategic joint business plan to improve margin at both the customer and Heinz.
Lead the implementation of category management by securing internal team resources; communicate to Heinz category leadership the customer's strategy and direction.
Effectively implement price changes and monitor pricing to insure that it is in line with category / brand objectives.
Drive customer specific concepts, products, and packaging needs within the category development and brand teams.
Maintain optimal retail merchandising conditions through effective leadership of retail operations support. Achieve modular placement of products relative to shelf goals established.
Achieve fast distribution of new SKUs and maintain / achieve distribution of existing SKUs.
Maximize on-strategy promotional opportunities with account through planning and execution of business plan-related and customized programs; resolve promotion related deductions and forecast promotional demand; review promotion performance results and plans modifications to deliver optimal objectives.
Develop and execute category reviews for customers and competitive assortment initiatives. Coordinate new item placement with understanding of account lead-time requirements.
Develop strong business relationships with key individuals throughout Target including the Merchants, Merchandise Planning, Vendor Operations, Negotiations, Finance, DFD, and Marketing if needed.
Manage trade investment funds to ensure that appropriate incremental volume results from spending.
Seek out category management information and develop relationships with AC Nielsen Advanced analytics support personnel.
KNOWLEDGE/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE -
BS / BA degree minimum; MBA Preferred
Process change agent ' Project Management a plus.
Strong organization and planning skills.
Ability to juggle multiple deadlines, accept constant change in developing business model, and give direction to cross functional team while delegating to drive the business.
Complete understanding of Retail grocery industry and the effects of merchandising on the sale of Heinz products.
Complete understanding of the policies, procedures and department functions within Heinz North America.
Proven track record of success in Retail grocery account management and category management either within Heinz, broker, or another manufacturer.
Understanding of Category Management and resources available from AC Nielsen.
