Job Description

JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:
• Manage new and existing product brands and formulate marketing and sales strategies

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Identify and analyze opportunities to establish market niches through the marketing and merchandising of products.
2. Conduct competitive analyses of products and conduct field visits to gather data on packaging and pricing.
3. Coordinate market research and discuss findings with marketing, research and development, sales and lab personnel and organize and conduct strategy planning meetings.
4. Establish brand positioning in collaboration with sales and senior management representatives and through the analysis of PCRP reports.
5. Manage services of independent creative vendor in developing labels and merchandising pieces and provide information regarding vendor performance or proposed new vendors.
6. Evaluate existing advertising brochures and label copy for improvements and rewrite label and brochure copy as needed.
7. Assist in the creation of new labels and merchandising designs.
8. Assist packaging department in the sourcing of packaging for new products or existing product improvements and assist in developing photo materials for sales brochures and displays.
9. Coordinate label purchases with Packaging Department when making program changes.
10. Organize and administer inside and outside lab benchmarking studies.
11. Attend trade shows to originate new ideas and keep abreast of competitive trends.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field
Considerable experience in marketing and advertising, including project management experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of marketing principles, product development and promotional practices, and advertising strategies and sales methods
Considerable knowledge of product features and competitive advantages
Knowledge of quality control standards and practices
Knowledge of printing industry practices
Knowledge of media relations and editorial practices and methods
Ability to operate a computer terminal and related mainframe or personal computer software applications programs
Ability to independently plan, organize and complete projects as assigned
Ability to delegate tasks and check work in progress and upon completion
Ability to prepare sales and marketing reports and approve expense requests
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to inspect products and work results for adherence to quality standards

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be occasionally required to travel out of state to attend meetings, functions and professional development seminars
