Title Terminal Operator Trainee

Description This position is based in Yankton, S.D. The position holder will work at the Yankton terminal but may also be required to provide vacation relief coverage for other terminal operators at Yankton and at Le Mars, Iowa. The successful candidate will be expected to live in the immediate Yankton area. The position is an hourly position that works rotating shifts 24/7/365, including weekends and holidays. The position may involve travel for regular duties, meetings, training, and vacation relief coverage. There may be occasional overnight stays away from home. The position requires the successful candidate to work with hazardous materials including gasoline, which contains benzene, highly volatile liquids, such as propane, and with fuel oils and petroleum additives. The position is subject to both pre-employment and random DOT drug testing. Duties include routine terminal operations, operating main line pumping units, filling and emptying storage tanks and additive tanks, performing quality assurance testing, providing customer assistance and training, light housekeeping and grounds maintenance, and other tasks as assigned by Management.
Requirements A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum one year of experience in terminal/pipeline operations is desired. A valid driver license and good driving record are required. The position requires the ability to climb to the top of 48 foot tall storage tanks and the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Good PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft products are required. The position holder must be a self-starter, able to work independently and un-supervised, and willing to adapt to changing conditions. Good communication skills are required. The ability to operate a tractor with front end loader and rear mower is desired.
