About the Business -
Description and Desired Qualifications CH2M HILL OMI is seeking an experienced professional to fill a Companywide Compliance Specialist position. This position works with Companywide Coordinators and Regional Coordinators to assist projects in understanding and attaining their regulatory requirements. This position also participates in the development and implementation of CH2M HILL OMI's Compliance and Reporting programs and company standards. This position has the flexibility to be based anywhere in the United States and it will also be a teleworking position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducts reviews of project operational records which may include operations, lab, IPP, and other programs.
• Performs confidential analysis of project compliance and reporting records.
• Helps Projects implement current CH2M HILL OMI Lab, IPP and CNR procedures.
• Assists in identification, interpretation, and tracking of regulatory requirements for Lab, IPP, CNR and other CH2M HILL OMI programs. Communicates to project managers and supports staff with the implementation of regulatory changes or company standards.
• Assist in the preparation of project specific compliance review checklist to aid Projects in attaining better compliance and reporting performance.
• Conduct training at the projects in Compliance and Reporting (CNR) procedures.
• Assist in startup of new projects. Sets up new processes including Compliance processes, lab and/or IPP programs and modifies existing programs as needed.
• Provides support by performing evaluations, start-ups and technical reviews.
• Provides support to project staff in communicating with regulatory agencies, industrial citizens, and local officials.
• When requested assists with development of new Industrial Pretreatment Programs and revision of existing programs.
• Provides assistance on technical and project management reviews.
• Prepares written Compliance/ Lab and/or IPP Sections of proposals and submits budgets for prospective work.
• Alerts Manager when Lab, IPP, or CNR Programs are below standards and assist in formulating and implementation of support plan for improvement.
• Provide support in writing new procedures, techniques, and quality tools and updating existing ones.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment; must be able to judge color end-point changes (not be color blind), have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. Must be free of respiratory problems of a nature that could be aggravated by exposure to chemical fumes found in a laboratory environment. Must be able to work, including lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Must be able to travel on short notice.
Basic Qualifications • BS degree in science or 5 years experience with a state certification in water/wastewater operations, laboratory or IPP.
• Must be willing to travel up to 60 percent of the time.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient in the use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Water and/or Wastewater Laboratory programs.
• Experience with Industrial Pretreatment Program management and development.
• Experience in water/wastewater operations, hazardous waste management, RCRA, security/risk assessment/management, or a related environmental field.
• Mid to high-level certification in water/wastewater operations is desirable.
• Proficiency in more than one CNR function and the desire to expand their knowledge base into other areas of the CNR function.
• A strong background of completion of self study and continuing education.
• Must have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Good interpersonal skills needed.
