Long Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for procuring equipment, materials and services to support the Exploration and Production (E&P) business unit in North Dakota. Responsibilities include developing long- and short-range purchasing forecasts, fostering internal and external customer and supplier relationships, implementing supply chain strategies, and performing ongoing market analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Forecasting:
Participate in planning activities with business partners to obtain current and future goods and services requirements and understand business drivers
Assist internal customers in identifying and describing requirements and make recommendations concerning sourcing strategy and vendor selection
Utilize various planning tools to project purchase quantities and dates for diverse material types and applications
Monitor changes to customer requirements and supplier capabilities and update forecasts as necessary
Procurement:
Initiate purchasing activities to obtain equipment, materials and services as required by the E&P business unit in North Dakota
Determine optimal sourcing methodology and implement in accordance with company policy
Follow GSC Strategic Sourcing process and requirements
Assist in negotiating commercial terms and conditions, as well as vendor selection
Monitor the status of outstanding orders and initiate vendor queries as necessary
Monitor inventory levels and continuously compare to business activity making adjustments to purchasing activity to meet internal customer requirements as necessary
Monitor supplier performance and customer satisfaction and proactively eliminate supply chain disruptions
Market Analysis:
Foster partnering relationships with key suppliers to understand their business drivers
Utilize various tools to gather and analyze market trends for the purpose of adjusting procurement activities to obtain the best value for the E&P business unit
Produce periodic market analysis reports and distribute to internal customers
Qualifications
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production operations
Knowledge of materials and equipment and their application in the oil and gas industry
Strong sourcing, influencing and negotiating skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills-keeping the customers fully informed of changes and status updates
Ability to analyze data and develop reliable and workable conclusions
Team player that understands the importance of working in cross-functional teams
Ability to seek out information needed to adequately forecast customer requirements
Drive for Results- on-time completion and prioritization of projects with limited supervision
Ability to perform under pressure and to adjust to changing priorities
EXPERIENCE:
Purchasing experience with an industrial company (oil and gas industry preferred)
Contract management experience a plus
Working knowledge of SAP and e-procurement tools a plus
EDUCATION:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Distribution desired (or equivalent work experience)
