Long Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position leads the facilities engineering and maintenance operations for the ND Production organization
The position reports to the Manager, Operations - ND, and supervises the Maintenance Superintendent, Facilities Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and a Regulatory Administrator
The position assists Americas Production drive toward First Quartile performance in safety, environmental integrity, production optimization and cost management
The Facilities & Maintenance Team Lead has responsibility for driving change in:
Facilities engineering - supervising and developing Facilities Engineers in planning maintenance activities, managing small construction projects and optimizing reliability and efficiency of operations facilities
Maintenance operations - oversight and direction of all maintenance activities for fixed and rotating equipment, instrument and electrical, integrity management, personnel safety, environmental, health and quality control and ensure compliance to Hess specifications, codes and standards
Job scope includes managing an organization of ~60 employees, ~$20MM annual capital spend, and ~$20MM annual controllable first spend
ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build organizational capability in office and field staffs to meet current and future needs
Achieve EHS goals through active support of policies and initiatives:
Lead and champion safety efforts to attain 1Q performance
Lead environmental integrity efforts to attain 1Q performance
Lead the Facilities and Maintenance Organization:
Manage facilities capital budget and maintenance controllable first spend for ND operations
Manage facilities projects through Value Navigator process as necessary
Prepare and/or review cost and schedule estimates for new facilities or facility modifications
Supervise design, procurement, installation, and construction activities to achieve required schedule, cost, and quality objectives
Ensure new/modified facilities & equipment include proper design for ease of maintenance and safe operation
Work with field personnel and operations and production engineers to monitor production system performance and recommend improvements in facility performance/throughput, availability, or ease of operation
Monitor production parameters and facilities performance for potential materials failures due to corrosion, fatigue, or other mechanisms
Propose facility inspection program to minimize integrity and downtime risks vs. inspection costs. Provide technical support for inspection planning and analysis, risk-based inspection, and other Integrity Management efforts
Propose corrosion mitigation programs, including chemical inhibition, process controls, and inspections
Identify potential fatigue failure mechanisms and propose monitoring and mitigation programs
Perform flow assurance and production chemistry analysis and management for surface facilities, including prediction of paraffin, asphaltenes, and scale deposition. Propose pigging programs and analyze results to optimize pigging operations
Monitor equipment performance and maintenance efficiency and implement maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and availability vs. maintenance costs
Analyze equipment failures (Root Cause Analysis) and propose equipment or maintenance modifications to minimize risks of future failures
Identify and implement new maintenance technologies
Develop Maintenance standards where needed and implement through SAP-PM
Skills and Experience
· 10-15 years relevant industry experience in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
· Experience with industry codes and standards, including API and ASME
· Experience with engineering modeling/analysis techniques and familiar with related software
· Self-motivated to learn and apply new technologies
· Perform effectively in a multitasking environment
· Ability to mentor and coach others
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with management, technical and operations staff.
Education
· Four year Engineering Degree (ME or EE preferred)
· Registered Professional Engineer or inspection certification preferred
Qualifications
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
10-15 years relevant industry experience in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
Experience with industry codes and standards, including API and ASME
Experience with engineering modeling/analysis techniques and familiar with related software
Self-motivated to learn and apply new technologies

EDUCATION:
Four year Engineering Degree (ME or EE preferred)
Registered Professional Engineer or inspection certification preferred
