The Aerospace headquarters is based in Phoenix, Arizona. This position will be based in Aguadilla - Puerto Rico.
This position is for a Lead Component Engineer that will serve all Honeywell Aerospace applications and locations as a microcircuit component specialist. Preference is for a component engineer that has supported the development of high reliability Aerospace systems. This engineer should be up-to-date and knowledgeable of the evolution and trends associated microcircuit technologies, devices, packages and manufacturers. This specialist will be an employee of the Aerospace Component Specialist Group, a group of component specialists that are within the Aerospace Component Engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include the following:
1. Provide component selection and applications leadership to Aerospace.
2. Lead the interface with design teams to drive the right technology/components into new Aerospace electronic hardware designs.
3. Develop component/technology roadmaps to align Honeywell's Aerospace technology needs with the components industry.
4. Complete component/technology trade studies and assessments.
5. Identify and recommend preferred parts for use in new Aerospace designs.
6. Provide technical support in supplier selection and recommend preferred suppliers.
7. Define component evaluation/qualification/assessment approaches and be able to assess component reliability.
8. Analyze and solve part problems.
9. Provide clear and articulate written and oral reports to project technical directors, management, and customers teams.
The selected candidate will be required to train for a period of time at one of the mainland facilities before being assigned to a Puerto Rico site.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering.
* 10+ years of component engineering experience.
* Must be a U.S. citizen only.
* Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.
Additional Qualifications:
* A strong technical knowledge of electronic components, especially microcircuits.
* Experience with Aerospace commercial/defense/space part technical requirements and customers is preferred.
* Experience with all phases of electronic hardware development and qualification is preferred.
* Must be able to contribute to and interface with diverse teams, especially design.
* Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment with new programs /customers/requirements.
* Ability to support existing product lines which includes being able to address parts obsolescence and technology changes that affect product life cycles.
* Ability to identify and manage component risks that affect product yield, manufacturability, testability, maintainability, and reliability.
* Must be self-directing and willing to work with various internal and external groups.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Digital and/or analog design experience is a plus.
* Expertise/experience with the other component types that are typically used on a circuit card is a plus.
* PE and EIT certification will be considered, but not required.
